Shield not working

Hello!

I got the 64-Button shield about a week ago, assembled it and connected a 32 button board made according to the instructions (including Diodes).
the problem is that the shield is not working in either mode (SPI or Serial mode).
I don't know what is wrong with it but it is not responding.

the "Busy" LED lights up only in two cases: when I write the sketch to the arduino and when I open the Serial Monitor. It turns on and after about 2-3 seconds turn back off.

What can I do?
I think something is wrong with it...

If the busy LED goes on when the sketch is uploaded to the Arduino that is a really good sign.

Try swapping your connection for the rows and columns. If that doesn't work, disconnect your buttons and momentarily simply short any row pin to any column pin. You should at that point see the busy LED flash (and button press data will be available).

I tried these things you are suggesting but it didn't help...
It's like something is not working there...

Please try this;

..., disconnect your buttons and momentarily simply short any row pin to any column pin.

Does this make the busy led flash?
