Voiceshield audio out to arduino analog in

Postby tishtosh » Tue Oct 05, 2010 10:41 pm

Hi: Picked up a voiceshield at MakerFaire NY. Very nice board! I want to connect the audio-out to the arduino analog in. My overall goal is to trigger a servo and led in a halloween skull based on the audio level. I'd really appreciate a pointer to a schematic and/or any other guidance. Thanks!

The easy way would be to use the Macetech Shift VU Shield.

This shield is designed to takes audio input and send it to the Arduino as an analog value.

Another way would be to build your own audio to analog circuit, which would probably, in a basic form, only need a few capacitors.

In either case, I would use the audio from the VoiceShield's built on audio amp, it has more power than the audio line out so it will be easier to get an analog value from.
