New to the board, so I apologize if I violate any rules of engagement here.
I ordered two dice kits for my boys, 10 and 11, for Christmas. They had a great time building them.
Later we played a board game which is heavy on dice rolling. We found the dice to be quite sensitive which is nice and I truly believe them to be random. Now my boys are very competitive. So they enjoyed ways to try and manipulate their dice rolls using the LED dice to their advantage by rolling and them tapping the dice again with their fingernail or something if the roll (which shows on the LEDS immediately) was too high or low for their liking. Sometimes if everyone else wasn't paying attention, they could "get away with it." Also, when you tap the dice kit and the roll is the same as previous roll, the LEDs don't blink or change in any way.
So, there's the background ... here's my suggestion:
On the next version, I think it would be better if the dice LEDs would flash or run through a little routine to blink individually in series or something after every tap for a full second (to indicate the dice is rolling) before displaying the value of the roll. During this time, you could program it to either ignore any additional taps or rolls or restart the "rolling" with the new piezo input. Also, if you could "freeze" the roll for one full second after it is displayed, so a new roll could not be initiated.
Don't get me wrong, I think the dice are ingenious and fun and work great the way they are ... I just think my above suggestions might make them better.
If you do implement any of my suggestions, I'd be happy to "beta test" a couple
Sean
